The day had finally arrived.
After 5 and a half months of hard work (bull shit) I was ready (or so I thought). I was ready to put my abilities to test, I was ready to sit along with lakhs of other aspirants for what is arguably the toughest exam in the world, I was ready for the sound of metal against metal (oops!! Too dramatic, got carried away by emotion)
Anyways left for Chennai a day before the exam in order to have a look at my exam center and find myself a decent hotel room (and not the kind of establishment which lent rooms by the hour).
I reached my center the evening before the exam. It was called Thangavelu Engg College. And I certainly wasn’t ready for what I saw. There was my exam center, next to a huge sewage drain and right across the drain was the Cognizant building.
For those who are unaware, I had a job offer from Cognizant which I was banking on in case my quest for B-schools wasn’t successful.
Talk about signs. Either it was this side or that for me. As for me I was just hoping that I didn’t land up in a pile of shit.
I found myself a decent enough place to crash for the night and was ready for the next day. The next day began well, I reached the center along with a couple of guys who were staying with their cousin some distance away.
Nothing much to write about the center except for this guy who was wearing this M.B.A. (Master of Bad Activities) T-shirt. Nothing new but its all about the timing isnt it??
We occupied our seats inside the exam hall and to my surprise/shock I found that I could see that huge Cognizant sign from the window right from where I sat.
Now for the biggest surprise of the day, almost everybody was seated in their seats, there walks in this guy with a bottle of water and boy!! The guy happened to be my Quants teacher at TIME and he was also writing the CAT and that too in the same room as me (I think I have overdone the dramatic angle here).
Anyways the papers were distributed and the signal to start was given. I swear to God I can never forget that sensation of opening the seal, sounds of seal breaking from everywhere around.
Eager to know how did my CAT exam go (not really a mystery, is it?)
Join us as we investigate as to what went wrong in the next edition of CAT Tales.
